Importing the existing access rights configuration

If you have already configured the access rights for another project (= source project), you can import this configuration into the Access rights dialog of the current project (= target project) as follows:

  1. If the source project is not already open in the current workspace: Import this source project or open the closed source project.
images/s/b2ic8e/9012/1ca6q62/_/images/icons/emoticons/information.svg The source project may be located in any position of the file system. So the project does not need to be copied to the workspace when importing.

  2. Make sure that you (the current user) have the activated feature Edit access control configuration in this source project. This is the case if you can open the Access rights dialog for the source project.
If you cannot open this dialog, contact your administrator or possibly a user with the activated feature Edit access control configuration. Ask the administrator or this user to grant you the access rights so that are able to configure the access rights of the source project.

  3. In the target project where you want to import the configuration:

    1. Open the Access rights dialog for the target project.

    2. Click Import.

    3. In the dialog, select the project from which you want to import the configuration and click OK.

    4. Confirm the message about the successful import by clicking OK.
Result: The Access rights dialog for the target project contains the configuration of the source project.

    5. If necessary: Edit the imported roles, users and access rights. See "Actions for the access control" for these possibilities.

    6. Save the imported configuration including your changes in the Access rights dialog.

  4. If you do not need the source project for other actions, close or delete it. When deleting, you might want to deactivate the respective option so that the content is not deleted from the file system.
