Comparing resources with each other

How to compare a →resource with a different resource:

  1. In the project explorer, select two or three resources that you want to compare with each other.

  2. From the context menu, select Compare With and Each Other. If you have selected three resources, select which resource you would like to use as the common ancestor in the three-way compare and click OK.
Result: A Text Compare editor opens and displays the contents of the resources beside each other.

  3. Click the buttons appearing on the far right of Text Compare to browse through the differences/changes between the resources or to copy the differences from one resource to the other. If you have selected three resources, you might want to the appropriate buttons to show/hide the ancestor or to disable/enable the three-way compare as well.

  4. Close the editor, e.g. by clicking images/download/thumbnails/409863775/CloseViewEditor-version-1-modificationdate-1531306764951-api-v2.png (the Close button) in the title bar.

If you want to compare the editions of the resource, you might want to compare a resource with the local history.

You may configure your preferences for the local history. You may specify how many days to keep files, how many entries per file you want to keep or the maximum file size for files to be kept. Select Window, Preferences..., General, Workspace, Local History – Make sure that Limit history size is checked and specify the appropriate data.
