Values of Variables view truncates an instance path with more than 259 characters

Symptom: The column Variable with the Values of Variables view displays a truncated instance path or a truncated name of the variable . Only the first 259 characters of the instance path incl. name are displayed. The column has already been made wider.
This problem occurs i n particular , if a →variable is declared based on a →structured data type and the base type of this structured data type is another structured data type. All used identifiers are so long that the instance path has more than 259 characters.

Cause: This problem is caused by a restriction of the Windows operating system.

Workaround 1: Shorten the identifiers – if this is possible and sensible for your application.

Workaround 2: Select the variable and press F2. This opens a dialog displaying the complete instance path incl. the name.
