Replacing a resource with local history

How to replace a →resource with an edition from the →local history:

  1. In the project explorer, select the resource that you want to replace with a local history state.
    Alternative: Open the object within the assigned default editor.

  2. From the context menu, select Replace With and Local History...
    Result: The dialog Replace from Local History opens.

  3. Select an edition in the list under Local History (in the upper pane).
    Result: Text Compare lists the differences between the selected edition and the current content.

  4. Click the buttons appearing on the far right of Text Compare to browse through the differences/changes.

  5. Repeat the last 2 steps, as required.

  6. When you have identified the edition to replace the current content, click Replace.

You are even faster in replacing the content with the last edition as follows: From the context menu, select Replace With and Previous from Local History.

You may configure your preferences for the local history. You may specify how many days to keep files, how many entries per file you want to keep or the maximum file size for files to be kept. Select Window, Preferences..., General, Workspace, Local History – Make sure that Limit history size is checked and specify the appropriate data.
