according to →IEC-standard: logical assembly of all the programming language elements and constructs necessary for the inteded signal processing required for the control of a machine or process by a PLC-system

A program is a →program organization unit (such as a →function and a →function block ) which store its states.
Programs can be declared using the following elements:

→data types (elementary data types and user-defined data types)
functions (system functions and user-defined functions)
function blocks (system function blocks and user-defined function blocks)
