Creating or editing connectors and continuations in FBD

How to create →connectors in the →graphical FBD-editor:

  1. From the context menu of the FBD-editor, select Create and Connector. Alternative: Press Ctrl+Shift+N.

  2. Position the connector where you need it.
    During this user action, it is possible that affected lines are automatically rerouted. If the positioned element is presented with a red rectangle, the destination is not possible.
    images/s/b2ic8e/9012/1ca6q62/_/images/icons/emoticons/information.svg You might want to use the following key while positioning the element: Press the ESC-key, if you do not want to position the element and abort the action.

  3. Press the primary mouse button.
    Result: An input field is opened.

  4. Enter the unique name for the connector. The name must be an →IEC-identifier.
    images/s/b2ic8e/9012/1ca6q62/_/images/icons/emoticons/warning.svg In order to avoid ambiguity, logi.CAD 3 prevents that a connector is created with the name of an already existing variable.

  5. Press Enter or click anywhere outside the connector so that the connector with the name is created. Press the ESC-key, if you want to discard the connector.
    If the connector is highlighted as faulty, the new name is causing an error. Enter another name or correct the other FBD-logic until the FBD-object does not contain any faulty FBD-elements.

How to create the appertaining →continuations in the →graphical FBD-editor:

  1. Select a connector.

  2. From the context menu of the FBD-editor, select Create and Continuation. Alternative: Press the n-key.

  3. Position the continuation where you need it.
    During this user action, it is possible that affected lines are automatically rerouted. If the positioned element is presented with a red rectangle, the destination is not possible.

  4. Press the primary mouse button.

  5. Repeat the steps for each required continuation. Alternative: Copy the continuation onto the clipboard and paste the new continuation from there.

Afterwards it is possible to connect the connector and its continuations respectively with other FBD-elements by lines.

How to change the name of a connector and its appertaining continuations:

  1. Double-click a connector or one of its continuations and enter the new (unique) name.

  2. Press the Enter-key or click anywhere outside the element so that the new name is entered. Press the ESC-key, if you want to discard the new name.
    If the elements are highlighted as faulty, the new name is causing an error. Enter another name or correct the other FBD-logic until the FBD-object does not contain any faulty FBD-elements.
