Stopping or starting the built-in PLC

The built-in →PLC is automatically started when logi.CAD 3 is started and it is automatically stopped when logi.CAD 3 is exited. The built-in PLC corresponds to the →PLC runtime system for the corresponding operating system.

If you want to stop/start the built-in PLC from within logi.CAD 3, perform the following steps:

  1. In the Instances view, expand the item PLC Information for the local PLC in order to see the connection state for the built-in PLC.
If there is an established connection to the PLC and the built-in PLC is running, the state Online is displayed. If there is no connection to the PLC or the built-in PLC is stopped, the state Offline is displayed.

  2. In menu PLC, select Stop Built-In PLC or Start Built-In PLC. (The current state of the built-in PLC determines which one of the commands is being provided.)
Result: If variables are visible in the Values of Variables view, the values are not updated anymore (if the PLC has been stopped) or they are displayed/updated again as after loading the application (if the PLC has been started).

If the runtime system has already been started outside of logi.CAD 3, the following behavior applies:

  • The built-in PLC is not started when logi.CAD 3 is started and it is not stopped when logi.CAD 3 is exited.

  • It is not possible to stop/start the built-in PLC from within logi.CAD 3. Hence, the command Stop Built-In PLC resp. Start Built-In PLC is disabled.

More useful information: PLC cannot be addressed. The runtime system is slow to respond or does not respond at all.
