Cleaning the library cache

The cleaning of the library cache is only required, if libraries are not provided by a library provider anymore and you want to remove these obsolete libraries from the library cache.

Good to know
  • When a library is installed, this library is automatically unpacked within a library cache by logi.CAD 3. The system libraries (such as Standard) for the appropriate logi.CAD 3 version are automatically unpacked within the library cache when a project is created or imported.

  • Later on, when an already installed library is not provided by the library provider anymore, the library is still available within the library cache. The system libraries for the previous logi.CAD 3 versions are still available within the library cache as well – even, if you do not use these logi.CAD 3 versions anymore.

If you want to remove obsolete libraries from the library cache, clean the library cache from within logi.CAD 3 :

  1. Open the properties of the project.

  2. Expand the group Library and select Libraries.
The table lists all libraries provided by a library provider and by the library cache as well. You can identify libraries that are only provided by the library cache by the icon images/download/thumbnails/414778495/LibraryUsedNotInstalled-version-1-modificationdate-1534250180323-api-v2.png displayed in the column Library provider.
See "List of libraries provided or installed for a project", if you need more information about this table and its information.

  3. If libraries with the icon images/download/thumbnails/414778495/LibraryUsedNotInstalled-version-1-modificationdate-1534250180323-api-v2.png displayed in the column Library provider are still used within the current project, best practice is to uncheck the box in the column Install for these libraries.

  4. Click Clean Library Cache.
Result: The appropriate libraries are removed from the table.

  5. Click Apply. Click OK within the dialog that is listing the libraries that will be removed from the library cache.
Result: The library cache is cleaned now.

  6. Click OK within the properties of the project in order to close the properties.

Alternative to the cleaning of the library cache, if you want to remove just one specific library from the library cache:

  1. Go to the folder that is defined for the library cache.
The path for the library cache is visible in the preferences: menu Window, Preferences, group Library Provider, Library Provider

  2. In this folder, delete the corresponding sub-folder for the library. If you have not permissions to do so, ask an administrator to delete the file.

  3. Recommended: Examine the list of the provided/available libraries (within the properties of a project). If the library is listed there and labeled with an icon, best practice is to see "List of libraries provided or installed for a project" for the meaning of the symbol and possible actions.
