Importing objects and folders

How to import →objects/→folders into a →project:

  1. Select the folder of the project into which you want to import the objects/folders.

  2. In menu File or from the context menu within the folder, select Import...

  3. In the wizard, select the type for importing objects/folders (see table below) and click Next >.
    To locate a particular type: Enter a text (e.g. system) into the field under Select an import source to show only the types that match the entered text.

    Possible types for importing objects/folders

    Type

    Meaning

    Archive File

    import objects/folders from an archive file (previously created when exporting resources)

    File system

    import objects/folders from the file system (the objects/folders have been previously created within a project)

    If you wish to import a project, use the type Existing Projects into Workspace. This type is indended to import a project from an archive file or a directory.

  4. On the next wizard page, type in the full path and file name in the text box (left of From archive file or From directory) or click button Browse to locate the archive file or the object/folder on the file system.

  5. In the right pane check the objects to import.
    Alternative: In the left pane check the folders to import their entire contents.
    To speed up the selection process: Click button Select All to select all found objects or button Deselect All to deselect all found objects. Click button Filter Types... to restrict the import to particular types.

  6. Make sure that the field Into folder displays the name of the project or folder to which you want to import the objects/folders. If not, click the button Browse to change the destination of the import.

  7. Select the options as required, e.g. Overwrite existing resources without warning.
    If Overwrite existing resources without warning is cleared, you are prompted before an already existing →resource is overwritten.

  8. Click Finish to start the import.
    Result: The imported objects/folders are displayed within the view containing the projects/resources. Now you can open these objects (for editing).
