→Evaluation

according to →IEC-standard: process of establishing a value for an →expression or a →function, or for the outputs of a →network or →function block instance, during program execution

In textual form, such as valid for the ST-editor, the language elements and constructs are evaluated in the order as specified in the language. The SFC-elements for an SFC-network are an exception of this rule. Details: see "Evaluating the ST-code including the SFC networks"

In graphical form, such as valid for the FBD-editor, the language elements and constructs are not necessarily evaluated in the order as they are positioned. Details: See "Evaluation of networks in FBD and the FBD-elements"
See "Evaluation of rungs in LD" for details on the order within the LD-editor.
