Faulty state and no connection to Controllino or Arduino Nano possible

Symptom:

  • After a →Controllino or →Arduino Nano could not be reached because of an unplugged cable, the cable has been plugged in again and it was tried to re-connect to the PLC at once. This resulted in the execution state Error or Gateway does not reach PLC to be displayed in the Instances view.

  • Subsequently, it is not possible to establish the connection to the Controllino or Arduino Nano anymore.

Causes:

  • Due to the unplugged cable, the target system loses the power supply and the target system is reset. During this time, there is no connection to the target system.

  • After the target system has been reset, it takes a little while before the connection to the target system is possible again.

Solution, if the execution state Error or Gateway does not reach PLC is displayed:

  1. Stop and start the Gateway anew (menu PLC, command Stop Gateway and then command Start Gateway).

  2. Then establish the connection anew.

Solution, in order to avoid the execution state Error or Gateway does not reach PLC:

  1. Make sure that the target system can be reached because the cable has been plugged in again.

  2. Wait for about 5 - 10 seconds.
This waiting time depends on the target system and might be longer.

  3. Only then click the button Connect to PLC in the Instances view.

  4. Make sure that the execution state Connected to PLC is displayed as detail on the connection within the Instances view.
